This SmileBond Systems blog, (as well as this SBS website) is here because of you: the clients and prospective clients of Trillium Dental and SmileBond. The number of you who have chosen SmileBond after a careful evaluation of your multiple options, has been somewhat amazing to me. This groundswell of demand has created a whole new treatment modality in our day-to-day routine. You know the cliché: “Necessity is the mother of invention”. I would add that: “Client demand is another mother of invention” and clearly, once we became able to offer fast, predictable multi-tooth bonding in our clinic, demand took on a life of its own! It’s clear that a source of information and education is necessary, hence this site and blog.
We strongly believe that strength and beauty properties of dental bonding materials will continue to improve. Therefore, standardized processes and procedures are being developed to allow the benefits of SmileBond Systems bonding to be available to as many patients as possible. SmileBond Systems is gladly leading the charge and is working hard to develop a network of skilled providers, along with materials and equipment vendors, so progress in quality and availability can be accelerated with SmileBond Systems.
I think back to the early years of the SmileBond development process when it had no proper name, so we simply called it the “transfer technique”. After struggling (albeit successfully) with many cases of “freehand” delivery bonding for dozens of clients, it was thrilling to develop a way to deliver multi-tooth bonding based on a pre-mold. It was frightening and nerve-wracking when performing the SmileBond process for a live patient for the very first time! But from day one we knew it was a success, and the joy and gratitude we saw in our patients was all the motivation we needed to refine the technique into a routine process.

The results I got from orthodontics and SmileBond at Trillium Dental are absolutely incredible!
At age 51, I finally got what I had dreamed of since childhood. I had always wanted braces because of my overbite, but was told in my 20s that I was not a candidate because of the loss of some of my molars. I was heartbroken but eventually resolved to the thinking that my teeth would not be able to be “fixed.” Dr. Bill and his team at Trillium Dental changed that thinking!
About 1-1/2 years ago I decided to switch dentists. I saw an add for Trillium Dental and remembered the sign I saw out front of their office with the “before and after picture.” I decided to call. Right away, I loved going there. The staff, atmosphere, and facilities were wonderful.
After Dr. Bill’s assessment of my case, he told me I was a candidate for orthodontics and offered SmileBond that would restore deteriorated biting surfaces. Dr. Bill executed a superb job with his skill, knowledge, and expertise. I really had no idea just how beautiful the result would be; I love it — all I can do is smile!! And I will say, the benefit is not only improved appearance but improved function as well.

I sought out the Smilebond system to improve the function of my bite. My bite was never good and deteriorated as I put off purchasing a bite splint due to the cost. Then, after getting a bite splint, normal daytime wear and tear continued the deterioration. My previous dental provider was being trained in a different type of restorative dentistry and told me the cost would be comparable to purchasing a new luxury car. After I delayed a few more years, I was having trouble even chewing food and realized I could no longer postpone fixing my teeth. Dr. Vuillemot listened and worked with me to find a highly functional solution that preserved a lot of my existing teeth and delivered a far better appearance than my expectations. The cost was much more reasonable than what my previous provider could offer. The simple pleasures of being able to chew comfortably, smile with my teeth and sleep without grinding have enhanced my life and made this a worthwhile investment.
